About

Hi!

I'm Megan. This humble blog of mine started as a fun little hobby while I was in university. I would sit in class, pretending to be typing notes on Suetonius' The Twelve Caesars or the socio-economic factors that led to the rise of Neo-Assyrian empire, when I was actually browsing food blogs and day dreaming about starting my own. Around that time, I also decided that university wasn't for me and I wanted to be a pastry chef. I started this blog to have some fun but also to convince my parents (and myself) that I was serious about baking, at least enough for them to put me into pastry school.

Over two years later, I've graduated pastry school at the top of my class, I work in a high-end patisserie, and my blog is a little more than a fun hobby. This is where I experiment with recipes and flavours, but also where I unwind and relax after a long week of work.

I try to use seasonal and local ingredients, cage-free organic eggs, and the best quality chocolate I can afford. You can't build a sturdy home if your materials are bad, after all.

The kitchen is my playground, where I have fun, and where I learn. It's where you should, too.

Just found your blog because of your lavender macarons on Pinterest. It's really lovely! I was curious how your trip to Europe was. You had made a comment about going then starting your pastry school. Hope that is going well too!

I actually did a little post on my trip, it's under the June Archives, labelled "Italia"! Thanks so much, pastry school is tons and tons of work but also really rewarding. My practical midterm is in a few days, wish me luck!
