Blood Orange Panna Cotta

I didn't intentionally make a pink dessert for Valentines Day, I swear. Last week, I saw some blood oranges and thought they were just beautiful, so I decided to make a dessert out of it. It just so happens that it's kind of pink and it's Valentines Day tomorrow.

I'm not a breakfast person. I never have been. I don't know if I ever will be. It's like being a morning person; you are or you are not. Maybe the two tie in together because I am certainly not a morning person.

My breakfast is usually a big mug of tea. That's it. When I wake up, I never feel like eating. I might be hungry when I wake up, but for the first hour of being awake, I don't enjoy eating, no matter what it is. Crazy, right? After about an hour, I get ravenous. I mean, wolf down anything I can get my hands on.

Chocolate Sticky Toffee Pudding

Read Article →

I will admit that I don't know what a proper English sticky toffee pudding tastes like. I've had a couple here in Canada and I've been to London a few times, but I've never had sticky toffee pudding in England.

While I've never had a traditional sticky toffee pudding, I know this is not it, mainly because of the addition of chocolate. It's a twist on the original. But still very tasty.

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world  - J.R.R. Tolkien
So, I saw The Hobbit last week and I haven't fully recovered yet. It was that good. I can't even say it was good because that would be an insult. It was thrilling, exhilarating, spectacular, beautiful, captivating, heartwarming, everything! Just brilliant. And, so, my obsession with the Lord of the Rings series has been rekindled and is burning bright for all things hobbitses.

Chocolate Brown Butter and Pecan Sandwich Cookies

I dream a whole lot. Sleeping dreams, not future life goal dreams. While that's not especially unusual, the fact that I remember almost every one of my dreams is a bit different. I can remember dreams I've had months ago. They're like memories to me. I can describe a scene in my dream the same way that I would describe my own kitchen.

I can never control my actions in my dreams, either. It's like I'm watching a movie through my eyes. Very weird.

On top of that, I never realize that I'm dreaming. Whatever is happening in my dream is 100% real to me. It doesn't matter how strange or ridiculous the dream is, it feels real. This is a double edged sword. It means the good dreams are some of the coolest experiences I've had (is that sad?). But, it means my nightmares are terrifying.
