The first signs of spring are here already. Buds are popping up on trees, there are days when I only have to wear one jacket, and some days are partially sunny. Compared to the rest of North America, Vancouver has had (as it always does) a mild winter. No snowpocalypse, no snowmaggedon, no Polar Vortex. Some rain, a couple days of half an inch of snow, and some more rain.

Almost everybody has their favourite chocolate chip cookie recipe. Some people swear by it, that there simply is no better possible chocolate chip cookie. It is the holy grail of chocolate chip cookies. I'm one of those people.

Am I putting too many apple recipes on here? Too many 'chai spiced' things? Really, this is only the second chai spiced thing, but the last chai spiced thing was also apple with puff pastry, but it wasn't proper chai. But they're oh so different from each other, I promise. This is crisp and flaky and creamy and a bit crunchy and totally different from the spiced crab apple mini pies

Milk....jam? Yeah, I know, I thought the same thing when I first heard of it. It's not jam. It originates from France, where they call it "confiture de lait", which literally translates to milk jam. But, once again, it's not jam.

Italian Country Loaf with Rosemary, Garlic, and Lemon

This bread really brought me back to one of my favourite places in the world, Tuscany. I've been there twice now and I'm in love. If you've followed me for a while, you may have read the post on Italy that I did after my trip there last summer. Smelling this bread as it came out of the oven conjured up images from that trip and the culture that I really envy.
